In yet another “Getting To Know Me” post (hopefully you sang this like in the King & I) I will be explaining my sign off of choice!
Authentic is defined as ” of undisputed origin; genuine. ” If something is authentic, you know it is real and you don’t have to second guess anything.
I crave authenticity. I doubt that makes sense, but its the easiest way I can explain why being authentic means so much to me. I grew up hiding my self hatred and horrible home life. I always felts like I was playing a role because no one cared about my true self.
Thankfully, I met my wonderful husband Kyle and he has helped me to regain my self, my voice, and my authenticity.
What you see is what you get with me. It has taken me years to become comfortable with myself, and honestly I still have ways to go.
Be prepared; this blog is not for the lighthearted. I will be open and honest about my life, I will probably cuss because I like to cuss. Also I am an out Liberal Feminist Latina so if you don’t like any of those words, then this may not be the blog for you!
You are probably looking at this site and thinking “Why did this chick choose the name Sativa Zebra for her blog?” Good Question!
Sativa! Cannabis has been traditionally categorized as either a Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid. Sativa strains are believed to have uplifting, social, creative, and energizing effects. Indica strains are believed to have relaxing, calming, and tranquil effects; while Hybrid can have varying effects due to breeding. As we get to know each other, you will learn that I have a lot of energy. Like, a lot guys! I am easily excitable and have had nicknames like Bubbles and Energizer Bunny.
Why Zebra? Well the Zebra is the mascot for those who have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is a connective tissue disorder. I won’t go into all the details but I was diagnosed in July 2013, and have daily pain literally everywhere. My pain used to be so horrific that I struggled to work 4 hours a WEEK! I turned to cannabis to mitigate my pain, and keep from using narcotics and opiods, and have never turned back!
The other reason I chose Zebra is because Zebras are herbivores, which is what I am now. I made the decision to go plant based in May 2019, and this has also incredibly helped me to manage my daily pain.
Hopefully, this will help you to understand me a little bit better! If you want to learn more about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome you can go on over here,
I am Kelcie Kush aka the Sativa Zebra! I am a woman who uses cannabis daily to treat my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome; I also work in the cannabis industry specifically in extraction and concentrates.
I decided to start this blog because I need a place to talk, share, and connect with others like me. Living with a disability is tough enough, especially when your disability is invisible. Cannabis has radically changed my life and I want to share my knowledge with you to help others in my situation.
On this blog, I will be sharing knowledge about cannabis products edibles, topicals, and more. I will review products as I try them, and maybe even review shows and movies whilst high AF! This space will be wildly honest, and jumbled up collection of thoughts; thus this blog will parallel my brain.
I guess this would be considered a lifestyle blog, but I’m not going to try to sell you my lifestyle. There is no one way to be or live so I will show you mine and give you my honest opinions and reasons for living as I do. I just want to create a non-judgmental, loved based community.
Let’s Get To Having Fun!
